A Leadership Journey through UWEZO CLUB
"My name is Kassim Omary Mnima, and I currently serve as the chairperson of UWEZO CLUB at Mashujaa Sinza High School.
My journey with the UWEZO PROGRAM began in 2021 when I was a Form Two student at Benjamin Mkapa High School. I joined the UWEZO CLUB as a regular member, simply looking to take part. But what started as a small opportunity soon turned into a life-changing experience. Through the club, I was able to build vital skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Above all, I discovered confidence in my leadership potential.
In 2023, I completed my O-Level studies, and in 2024, I joined Mashujaa Sinza High School for A-Level. Upon arrival, I found that the school did not yet have UWEZO CLUB. I saw this as an opportunity to give back, and I took the initiative to start one. It was not easy. We faced several challenges, especially due to limited awareness of the UWEZO PROGRAM among some students and teachers. However, through resilience, teamwork, and determination, we succeeded in establishing a strong and active club that continues to grow.
This experience has shaped me in many ways. I’ve learned how to lead with authenticity — bringing vision, empathy, and collaboration into every step. I’ve also come to understand that every project comes with its challenges, but those very challenges can become stepping stones for growth and innovation. Most importantly, I’ve discovered a stronger version of myself. Today, I believe in my ability to lead — not just a school club, but larger institutions and communities — because the foundation has already been laid.
I am proud to be a member of UWEZO CLUB. It is more than just a school activity — it’s a platform for building young leaders, transforming schools, and shaping the future of our nation."
