Partnership for Progress: Great Hope Foundation and Nyayo Tanzania Launch SAMIA UWEZO AWARD in Mara Region.
On July 18th, 2025, Nyayo Tanzania in collaboration with Great Hope Foundation officially launched the SAMIA UWEZO AWARD competition in Mara Region, beginning with the districts of Tarime and Serengeti. The launch took place at the Serengeti District Council Offices and marked a significant milestone in expanding youth empowerment initiatives to more regions of Tanzania.
For the past ten years, Great Hope Foundation has successfully implemented the UWEZO AWARD in Dar es Salaam and Coast regions—earning national acclaim as a transformative platform for unlocking student potential, nurturing entrepreneurial mindsets, and grooming young leaders while they are still in school.
In recognition of the visionary leadership and developmental strides of Her Excellency President Samia Suluhu Hassan, especially her emphasis on improving education through the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC), Nyayo Tanzania chose to name this initiative the SAMIA UWEZO AWARD in her honor. The goal is to actively support this vision by ensuring students not only learn in theory but also practice real-life skills that prepare them for the world beyond school.
The launch ceremony was graced by various government officials, including the Deputy Executive Director of Serengeti District Council, representing the Mara Regional Commissioner. Also in attendance were education officers, community development officers, school heads, teachers, and students from secondary schools in Tarime and Serengeti.
